Early Life and Education: Shiv Nadar was born on July 14, 1945, in the village of Moolaipozhi, near Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, India. From a humble background, Nadar's academic zeal took him to PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore where he completed his degree in electrical and electronics engineering.

HCL and the Rise in the IT Sector: In 1976, Nadar, along with six of his colleagues, started a company called Microcomp Limited with an initial investment of ₹187,000 (approximately $3,000 at the time). This venture became the foundation stone of HCL (Hindustan Computers Limited), one of India's pioneering IT services companies.

Under Nadar's visionary leadership, HCL evolved from a start-up in a single room to a conglomerate with diverse interests spanning IT hardware, software services, infrastructure services, and healthcare.
